Legacy
Legacy is a voluntary organisation providing services to Australian families suffering financially and socially after the death of a spouse or parent during or after their defence force service. We currently care for over 100,000 widows and 1,900 children and dependants throughout Australia.Caring young families

Australia's increased use of its defence force on military, humanitarian and peacekeeping duties has led to a new generation of veterans, and many deaths. In recent years, over 40,000 Australians have served in places such as Somalia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, East Timor, and lraq. These deployments are always dangerous, and families need to be confident that they will be cared for, always, should the unthinkable happen.
Support for ageing

Each year an additional 7,000 bereaved widows come under Legacy’s care. We are committed to assisting these widows to live full and happy lives in spite of their loss. No Legacy widow will ever have to face life's challenges alone.
Legacy assists with trusted advice, financial hardship relief, combating social isolation and living at home or in care with dignity.
Support for children

Many veterans die leaving behind children with intellectual, neurological, psychological or physical disability.
We believe that these disabled children of veterans have an inherent right to live on an equal basis with others. Legacy is proud of its commitment to dependants with disabilities and their widowed parents.
